Accounting Manager/Controller

Job Description:

Accounting Manager/Controller position is a vital part of implementing and managing accounting processes and a positive culture in a growing company. Prime is a major union commercial construction sub-contractor that employs Carpenters, Tapers, Painters, and Plasterers in the Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois region. As a senior executive reporting directly to the President/ CEO, the Accounting Manager/Controller will perform effective financial and risk management and plan the company’s financial strategy. The Accounting Manager/Controller will be responsible for the oversight of all accounting, financial and risk management functions. The Accounting Manager/Controller will coordinate a variety of activities relating to employees, customers, suppliers, auditors, banks, regulatory agencies and others. This accounting professional will maintain and improve a variety of accounting related systems and procedures including payroll, payables, receivables, financial reporting and analysis. Candidates must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to banking operations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive financial integrity and sustainability of the business
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and manage cash flow and forecasting, including periodic financial snapshots and short and long term analysis
  • Ability to manage and oversee the Accounting Assistant position
  • Manage key external financial and risk management relationships, including banking and surety/insurance relationships
  • Provide ownership and oversight of company balance sheet, revenue estimates, direct and indirect expenses
  • Oversee all associated fiscal reporting, including department budgets, general ledger account maintenance and data entry
  • Develop, implement and maintain finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures including establishing and maintaining internal cost and compliance control safeguards
  • Produce certified payroll reports and other regulatory and compliance actions
  • Implement and maintain required Union Reporting
  • Job tracking, costing and analysis

Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:

  • Demonstrated professional history of progressively responsible leadership experience in financial and accounting industries
  • Related degree required
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience with Quickbooks desired
  • Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience in construction is highly desired
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards is a must
  • Experience in a fast paced business driving growth and change
  • Capability to identify and capitalize on opportunities quickly; ability to maintain effective balance between strategic and tactical priorities
  • Experience managing overall financial performance, using financial analysis to evaluate strategic opportunities and understanding key financial indicators
  • Ability to solve complex issues and provide insightful and constructive feedback

Construction Estimator/Project Manager Position
